So, I've been laying off live shows for a couple months, with the exception of a couple fundraising efforts and one in my current hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin for the Volume One Summer Concert Series. I've been taking time to work on a play called "The Therapist," acted on stage in two local productions, one as a lead, but otherwise have been enjoying great reviews of my latest release, "The Unsung," and some down time.
It's been relaxing and a little weird... my weekends are free. I've found it helpful, however, to not be spending all my time dealing with venue owners and how many people they want me to draw... I'm not the Pied Piper for beer drinkers, I'm an entertainer. Spending less time sweating the business end and more time digging into the creative end has allowed me to continue to re-assess things. I've made a few radio appearances and have more coming up, and am receiving new play through Public, Online, Community and College Radio. Many new outlets have continued to open all over the U.S. and elsewhere in the world. Remember, if you have a show on any station, airwave or otherwise, I'm happy to send you some material to play. It doesn't matter to me how large or small the listening audience, I love for my music to be heard. That's why I write and record... people need the therapy of music.
I can't say with any certainty when I will hit the stage again on a regular basis, except that when I'm asked to do a nearby fundraiser, I almost always do it. Of course, if I am offered a show at a larger than usual venue, I will likely take it on, especially if my job amounts to doing my usual online promo and then showing up to play.
Stay tuned and I hope you're enjoying Spring weather. It's supposed to snow a bit here in Eau Claire this week.
P.S. I have no idea why several more recent news posts disappeared from my page, so I hope you read them.
UPDATE: It's May 3rd and we've had snow falling for 24 hours straight. Pretty heavy Winter for Spring, huh?
